Yamaha RX100 is back! The bike that ruled Indian roads in the 90s has returned with a bigger heart. People now call it the ‘Father of Bullet’ because it beats Royal Enfield in price and power. The new RX100 packs a 225cc engine, hits 120 km/h, and costs less than many 150cc bikes. Let’s break it down.

Design

The RX100 keeps its classic round headlamp and chrome fuel tank that made it famous. But Yamaha added modern alloy wheels and LED tail lamps. The seat is long and comfy for two. Black exhaust and red pinstripes give it a retro-yet-fresh look. It weighs just 125 kg – easy to flick in traffic.

Features

The 225cc air-cooled engine pumps out 20 bhp and 19 Nm torque. A 5-speed gearbox makes highway rides smooth. Front disc brake and rear drum stop it fast. The bike has a digital-analog cluster showing speed, fuel, and gear position. Tubeless tyres and USB charging port are standard. No ABS yet, but Yamaha promises it in the top model.

Price

Here’s the shocker – the RX100 starts at ₹1.25 lakh (ex-showroom). That’s ₹30,000 less than the cheapest Bullet 350! Three variants exist:

  • Base: ₹1.25 lakh
  • Mid: ₹1.35 lakh (alloy wheels + disc)
  • Top: ₹1.45 lakh (ABS + black color) Booking opens next month. Deliveries start in March.

Mileage

Yamaha claims 45 km/l in city and 52 km/l on highways. The 11-litre tank gives over 500 km range. Real-world tests by riders show 40-48 km/l – still better than most 200cc bikes. Light weight and slick gearbox help save fuel.
